The whole conceit of making the novel a series of emails just seemed to have been forgotten after the initial few pages and the author just bulldozed the plot into subsequent pages as if it was more a narrated tale, with full blown dialogues. It just makes the whole point of Rank 'ranting' pointless and misleading to the premise of the plotting.
