The Art of Hearing Heartbeats

The Art of Hearing Heartbeats - Jan-Philipp Sendker A beautifully written book about a daughter looking for her missing father in Burma without a trace of orientalism and lots of grace. I don't usually get moved easily and this was almost a tear jerky for me. The silence between the proses really do speak volumes. There is much to be said for a novel written by a German about Burma and translated by an American which gives it enough distance to view it dispassionately.
