It's been quite a while since I've read a page turner/pot boiler and this was a prefect antidote for mindless/mindful police procedurals and murder-mystery and angsty detectives or detective couples masquerading as a plot device.
It is not your Mankell or Coben and yes it reads more like a script for a TV movie, which is interesting, given the quote on the cover reads "The most terrifying crime novel I have ever read" on Lyssnarklybben (which is a Swedish audio book website)
But unlike twisty Gardners or expansive Georges, this novel cuts the fat (almost to the quick) and gets to the main thrust of the plot and moves you along without any distraction. 
Yes, plot twists and turns are telegraphed and the ending almost seems apologetic but while you're in for the ride, it is one maddeningly scare.
