This is my first Susan Lewis so I have no idea what her style is like but this book has a LOT of dialogue - it's like a telemovie transcripted into a book.
I do feel a little weary of the 'us vs. them' mentality exhibited by the social worker Alex, almost bordering on self-righteousness at all cost.
I assume the market Susan writes for taps into the fears of middle-class British families and for mothers so I can understand the tone adopted for the book.
All the same, my ratings might be affected if ALL her books reads this way so we'll see.
