This feels like a feminine version of The Mosquito Coast but what it doesn't do for me is the credibility issue. A child is kidnapped and returned/rescued and what does the mom do? Bundle them off to Costa Rica?I keep questioning that premise as I read the book and in the end, I just don't believe in it. The writing is fluid but the plotting comes across as full of questions/holes and not in a good way.
