In my opinion, this books suffers from the translation from Spanish to English.I can only imagine how free flowing it was in its original language but in English it feels turgid and bogged down.
Maya, of the title seems to be all over the place in the book and the sprawling plotline and sub-plots makes it really hard to focus on the main character and invest time on caring for her.
