The Cuckoo's Calling

The Cuckoo's Calling - Robert Galbraith It's a throwback to the era of private eyes with a temp/secretary called Robin and who lives in his office n(after breaking up with his girl friend, of course) is overweight, missing a leg and investigates the death of a supermodel, but set in the 21th century and knowingly sly with his observations.

It's not every day that you get chapters prefaced by latin quotes and the plot is more about the legwork and not about the DNA tests and police procedural.

Refreshingly old school and a delight to read.
